I don't agree with her decision, but that's her. I am an American citizen and always will be no matter where I travel or move, though I have no plans to live elsewhere. Thanks for posting the article.

I heard that she had done that. I'll never understand, but it's her life........

Tina lives in a beautiful house on the lake in Zurich where people don't bother her.
Maybe giving up her US citizenship has to do with leaving a past life behind her....

I think that this has more to do with U.S. Citizenship law than anything else, which de-citizenises [[hey, I've invented a new word) people who acquire foreign citizenship.

Other countries allow dual-citizenship with no such requirement and it is quite common in the U.K. for people to have citizenship of another country [[or countries) as well as British citizenship.

From my [[British) perspective it makes perfect sense for Miss Turner to acquire Swiss citizenship if she has lived there for 20 years, what doesn't make sense is that she is required to relinquish U.S. citizenship as a result.

I suppose it all comes down to what we are brought up to think about such issues.

Yeah, this sounds like U.S. Citizenship laws, nothing else. I'm sure there will be those who will try to make it something more than it is.

I was surprised to see that she relinquished her citizenship. Apparently, she left a good job in the city workin' for the man every night and day. She never lost a minute of sleep
worrying about the way things might have been.

But Tina Turner says she still loves America. But what's love got to do with it? It's just a second hand emotion.

milven, that's funny!!! I thought she had dual citizenship for many years now. Anyway, it is totally her decision. She definitely has a good life now. I wish the best to her.

I don't understand why she couldn't have a dual citizenship.
What's the big deal, why doesn't Switzerland allow for dual citizenship.

Anyway, best to Tina!

I wonder if it had more to do with tax laws. I wonder if she was required to pay taxes under both US and Swiss laws? Perhaps taxes are lower in Switzerland.

Good point, Ross. Sounds logical.
