I thought it was a great dance record. At the time, I remember we actually were nostalgic hearing it and the snippets of Motown classics from just 10 -12 years earlier! LOL!!!

The concept for the song came from Simon Soussan who had spent the previous few years sourcing rare Northern Soul tracks to UK record buyers.
He bootlegged lots of rare original 45's & shipped them to the UK, making quite a bit of money for himself in the process.
As the UK NS scene was originally built around cuts with that 60's Motown sound, it wasn't a great leap for him to come up with "Uptown Festival".
