Nice article about Gladys Knight's career which includes her Motown years. It starts at the beginning when as a seven year old she appeared on Ted Mack's Amateur Hour and ends with her singing the song from THE BUTLER

The article has a rather serious inaccuracy. It states that "Gladys Knight and her Pips... served as opening act for Diana Ross and The Supremes on tours in the early '70s." There was, however, no "Diana Ross and The Supremes" by the early '70s.

I noticed that too but edited out my comment above. Gladys didn't need to open for anyone in the seventies. I remember seeing The Supremes , Gladys Knight & the Pips , and The Supremes all in one week and all headlining in their own seperate shows.

G. Knight/Pips were headlining shows by the late 1960s. I think they shortly did that after the incident with the Supremes.
