Can anyone direct me to a disc with the alternate take of Teach Me Tonight by Dinah Washington? I'm talking about the version where she switches keys ..."I know you're wondering how I switched that key, my love." It is on a vinyl album, the Finer Dinah, but I'm looking for a digital copy.

Let me go through my Dinah albums/CD's.

I have it on the following:

"Blue Gardenia" CD [[In my top two favorite Dinah albums).
"Classic Dinah Washington" Box Set.
"The Dinah Washington Story" [[First Issue Original Recordings).

Not sure if one of those are the version you are looking for. I listen when I have time.

Kam, it's not on "Blue Gardenia" or "The Dinah Washington Story".

Cannot say about "Classic Dinah Washington" because it is on the 2nd Disc which is missing from my CD. Sigh......I'll need to search for it unless somebody ripped it off, lol........Will check today.

It is Dinah's most soulful version IMO. :rolleyes:

Thanks Soul Sister. I did find it on Amazon MP3. It's on the Complete DW Mercury Recordings Vol. 7. It's the version I was looking for where she sings: "The sky's a blackboard...and I don't mean jungle..." I now understand it was a sly read or dig at one of her ex husbands, Rafael, who was in the film. Dinah had divorced him because he had cheated on her with some younger women. some say.

Soul Sister, Dinah fascinates me. She was interesting and she influenced a lot of female singers who came after her and they thought they had to be as bold and colorful as she was. I don't know if you've seen this but it's quite good. It's on Ebay in four parts.
