The Emanuel Lasky Story
Discography & Credits

Don Davis was a key figure at Thelma Records and had a hand in Emanuel’s early career.

“In this troubled world that we’re living in
A man needs all the love he can get”
I’m A Peace Loving Man

Emanuel was born on June 20th, 1945 and during his early years lived at 754 McDougall. This was in Detroit’s long-gone Black Bottom area on the city’s east side, but his family moved across to the west side of Detroit when he was a teenager, to 11711 Dexter Avenue. Consequently he and his brother Charles left Eastern High to attend North Western, which at that time was not a million miles from Thelma’s office on Grand River Avenue.

Emanuel now lives in an apartment near Highway 375, close to downtown Detroit.
