I recall the first time I heard the name Rose Battiste. I thought to myself... WOW!

Even better was to follow when I heard her rare 45, "Hit and Run". Simply, it rates as one of THE great songs rescued by the Northern Soul scene.

In September 2001, Graham Finch played me an interview that he had conducted with Rose in Detroit.

As we listened to the tape, I thought how wonderful it was that Graham had tracked this legend down.

It is a privilege to present Rose's story on SoulfulDetroit.
