Paula Deen will bounce back, just like so many other people who have made racial gaffs. Don Imus is still around. Glen Beck is still around. Charlie Sheen is still around. Jesse Jackson is still around, and Deen will be too. All she has to do is shut up and hide for a few months. Hell! She doesn't even have to prove to anyone she is enlightened because there are enough people out there who still accept her. We've already got one Black pastor sticking up for her.

Maybe Deen should live in New York City for a few years. The city is highly diverse and liberal. Oh, she should live in a predominantly Black area. The point of that is to get away from that bubble of the white southern mentality. People are less bigoted when they travel and live among diverse peoples.

Sometimes the best way to deal with bigots and racists is to not get angry at them or tell them off, but show them.
Soulster, having her live in NYC would change nothing about her! True story. Back in the late 90's a company I was working for at the time hired and relocated a woman who had been in our industry for years from Nashville, TN.
Once she was in New York, she proceeded to continue to call most of the guys in our firm "Bubba" and the women, "Gurl"! Unbeknownst to me and the only other African American in my office, a female. She referred to us as "The Monkeys" behind our backs! She would only say it around the white employees there hoping to get laughs. WELLLLLL! They do not play that in New York. It was not very long before it all came to light. She had fired the African American woman and tried to reassign me, giving my work to a new hired white guy with little to no experience. A white employee told management how this woman referred to African Americans as "monkeys, etc....."

Bottomline ---- she ended up with the company facing lawsuits. She was then transferred to Atlanta where she wanted to be and where they'd hoped she would fit in better . Guess what? Within two months of being in the Atlanta office, she started up again with an African American female working in our Atlanta office. The company was facing another lawsuit and finally had to dissmiss this awful, racist woman! Maybe she should have stayed in Tenn? I don't know, but I do know people take their racism with them wherever they go. Being nice and trying to get a person like that to like you does not work. They have made up their minds that they are better than you in some way!

First, the company should have fired her when she was in still NYC! This tells me that the company has issues of its own.

Yeah, you're right. But, hey, it was just a suggestion. And, many people do change with long-term exposure. But, Paula Deen seems like she is open to learning something if she really wants to understand why she lost her contract, and it should happen now, before she realizes how much support she has among the bigots.

You know, I was standing in line at my cable provider the other day before all of this broke out, and they had her show on one of the monitors. Now, I had never watched her show before, but while watching it while bored, I noticed something about her looked "off'. She looked very depressed. I guess we know why now. She got busted! I had never watched her show before because, I had once read about her bigotry.
