Assuming that the Leon Peterson who released a 1980 45 on Fire Mountain is the same Leon Peterson on Kable, the 1980 Copyright filing for "Sherm" provides some information. He was Leon Peterson Sr. born 1931, and his son Leon Peterson Jr. was a co-writer born 1964. There aren't many choices on Ancestry.com for a person born in 1931, but the most likely has nothing to do with St. Louis. In the 1940 Census he was living in Bolivar, Mississippi and was born in Mississippi, but by the 1950 Census he was living in Detroit, Michigan. His Social Security Card was issued in Indiana. Eventually he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he died. This is his gravestone:

If Leon Peterson Jr. can be located he can either confirm this information or provide the correct details.
