    Back to YSL
It certainly gave me a chuckle.
The thing to remember is it's not all about the individual, no matter how long they have been a member. Each and everyone should feel free to discuss whatever they like, whenever they like and as often.
With Diana now nearly 80 and slowing down, it’s only natural that topics are repeated. This in turn provides more recent members an opportunity to share their point of view having previously missed out.
Anyway….back to YSL. Such a beautiful pic.

Thanks for posting sans. Fashion had always been an integral part of the Diana Ross persona. Some hits and misses here for me. Always prefer it when she moves away from those Glinda The Good creations.

    Nice post.

I don’t know much about fashion but it seems in her later years, the teepee style dress became more accentuated.

And if we need to consider the Andantes or Right On again, I agree - then we can try it again.

Ha! Yeah, a few of those Billie Burke ballgowns go a long way, if ya know what I mean. My favorite looks of hers tend to be the classic sheath look.

Absolutely. One of my favourite Diana looks being the MTV awards of 99 when she patted Lil’ Kim’s boob. She was really rocking it that night, making the other women appear plain in comparison.

Gorgeous photos and I love the new YSL photos especially the one where Miss Ross half smiling. Theres nothing more elegant than a plain black dress. A go to for any woman looking to feel and look classy and elegant.

Always nice to get approval from such a long standing member.
I agree, the Glinda frocks definitely increased as she got older. I find them a little grandiose and dare i say dated.

Yes, just a joke. Threads get easily derailed [[which is fine), but often funny to see just how derailed they get.

Hey this was fun seeing Diana's many contributions to fashion over the years. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, threads get derailed, which is fine, but like jobeterob said, "then we can try again". "How long has that evening train been gone?"

Let's face it, though--it's a diva's job, nay, birthright to be grandiose. The giant gowns are like a uniform for a grande dame like Ross.

I guess so lol. I certainly liked some of those early ball gowns, but they just grew larger and wider as the years progressed.
She certainly outdid Glinda The Good at Christmas in Washington by donning that hugely voluminous, all eyes on me if you please creation. In fact, that must be the same frock that she wore for the Queens platinum jubilee concert. Please correct me if i’m wrong.

Ha! It was different at the Jubilee-- the skirt had alternate rows of black and white. The gown at the White House Christmas concert made her look like the tree-topping angel, so it worked!

If appearing a tree topping angel were her intent then she succeeded most admirably lol.
Thanks for the info on the dresses. I really can’t say i was particularly keen on either.
The jubilee frock seemed to impede her movement, being no surprise when Evan lent his arm to avoid a topple.

well its certainly true...YSL was in need of a face

Diana did the Blackglama thing in 75 lol

First I heard of her being associated with YSL. She seems more of a Chanel type of girl.

No, she’s part of the YSL spring 2024 campaign along with Diana and Michael Stipe of REM.

  29. #79
She’s made a Facebook post on January 26 thanking YSL, Anthony Vacarello and David Sims and referring to the Diana Ross 2024 campaign

Then there was a follow up post about Beautiful Love Performances - Legacy 2024 - I guess this years tour

I would so love Diana’s incredible 80th year to be marked by something other then yet another concert tour. It’s a ‘tad late for any book to appear, but a new box set featuring rare studio or live performances would be an appropriate and deserving tribute for her and for us.
Perhaps a special concert to include other artists in recognition of her influence, longevity and continued appeal.
Nothing to do with her being happy and healthy, more recognition on the big occasion.

She attempted to merch her 75th. It failed. Her 80th should be a private dignified affair.

That’s boring, as was that dreadful birthday bash. Nothing undignified about a definitive box set featuring rare live recordings and pics. The deluxe edition could include a dvd or two, perhaps titled Remember Me.

Beautiful! I hope there will be more like this, in other cities, too. For me, this updates her iconic Diana Ross 1976 album cover photo.

If memory serves, I believe that gown was chosen because she had a cast on her leg.

The blue gown Diana wore for the Christmas medley was lovely and amply disguised the cast. The creation she wore for “Amazing Grace” made it appear she had wandered in from the set of a kids pantomime. There’s eye catching and then OTT.

I can confirm Diana is hoping to do the sequel to the 1964 movie Strait-Jacket starring Joan Crawford.

Don’t tell me all we got is two pictures and this is the face of the spring campaign. It really doesn’t make any sense, maybe something is in the works or maybe not

I wonder if they decided Diana's eyes weren't perky enough for the brand

this one really stuck her neck out to be a model:
