The only thing I can add to the discussion is that I've seen Martha in concert twice. She didn't sound like the records from 50 years prior. Nor did I expect her to.
But what she lacked in sound, she over compensated in personality. And class.
After both concerts she sat and personally greeted every single audience member. Photos and autographs and stories. The last person in line just as important as the first, not leaving until everyone got their 5 minutes.
She could auto tune. She could retire. But this legend and treasure doesn't, and won't. Kind of like someone who's proud of their wrinkles or their battle scars. She's aged and she's unapologetic. And still packs the house.
I'd see her again in a heartbeat.
