There's also a 25 disc Marvin one and a Jackson 5 one. No further info given.
Does anyone have any more detail on these?

Apparently this is a Universal UK box set which should include all of the Motown albums including Baby It's Me and Ross [[78). Though not the expanded versions. Although, since it's 23 discs and she did not have 23 solo albums on Motown I wonder what those additional discs could be...

Could the additional discs be Diana Ross & The Supremes albums?
23 CDs for $167.00? Those Japanese releases were running way more than that ..... WAY more! :-)
70€ at amazon.de at the moment

OK, but what's in these boxes? I wanted Universal to follow Sony and BMG's Original & Classic Albums format, but not like this or at a high retail price.
Amazing isn't it. I live in the UK. It's a British product, but I can't order it yet on Amazon UK, I have to order via German or Japanese sites!
Looks like the J5 one will be first there are delays on the other two
Paul,
Are these sets REALLY 20+ CDs? Where is the J5 information posted?
Thanks!
What if the Diana Ross complete Motown albums is actuallythe Supremes? With the exception of greatest hits albums the Supremes from the60’s had 23 albums including Merry Christmas and the live albums. That’s alsonot counting Farewell as a double album.

Limited Edition. 23 Mintpack In 3 Part Hinged Box.????
Here's one way to get 23 Motown Diana Ross albums [[just pure speculation here):
1970: Diana Ross
1970: Everything Is Everything
1971: Surrender
1973: Touch Me in the Morning
1973: Last Time I Saw Him
1976: Diana Ross
1977: Baby It's Me
1978: Ross
1979: The Boss
1980: Diana
1989: Workin' Overtime
1991: The Force Behind the Power
1995: Take Me Higher
1999: Every Day Is a New Day
2006: Blue
3 live releases:
1974: Live at Caesar's Palace
1977: An Evening with Diana Ross
1993: Stolen Moments: The Lady Sings...Jazz and Blues
Soundtracks:
1971: Diana! [[TV)
1972: Lady Sings The Blues
1975: Mahogany
Compilations with new material:
1981: To Love Again
1994: Diana Extended: The Remixes
By my count that's 23 Motown Albums...[[and, yes, I'm well aware that the Mahogany soundtrack only features Diana on one track...)

what about Diana and Marvin?
Ah, of course - I knew I'd forget one! I, for one, am very curious to hear more details about this release, that's for sure...my guess is that "complete" will turn out to be a very subjective term...

Any new information about these releases? October 11th is not too far away. :-)
I'm very curious, too!
[B][B]"Limited Edition. 23 Mintpack In 3 Part Hinged Box"
In the links given above, this description of this boxset describes it being packaged in a "mintpack." I checked it out. :-)

Cool info, longtimefan!
Here the J5 boxset:
http://www.mjbackstage.be/jackson-five-complete-album-collection/
If you're a J5 completest; It's nice packaging but kind of pointless, in my opinion. All of the albums in it are easily available on Amazon.com and Ebay. Who is supposed to want this?

Could this be the 23 CDs?
http://tfile.me/forum/viewtopic.php?t=571652
If it is, it's just as pointless as the one for the Jackson 5 and far from complete...no live albums, no Funny Girl, no Sam Cooke or Country Western & Pop. But it doesn't say it's complete, just a collection.

People who buy everything from the artist or people who don't have much and want a lot more, I suppose.Who is supposed to want this?
I have all the Jackson 5 I need. I don't have the Christmas album because I can't stand it and Goin Back to Indiana, which was just silly in my opinion. There were some alternate takes of J5 songs like ABC, Mama's Pearl released on Number Ones in Japan and I wonder if they were ever issued on another compialation?

Anyone find out more info on these "mintpack" releases yet?
As mjdestiny posted only the Jackson 5 box set has any information. Nothing yet on Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye
Yes, I saw that but that was 15 days ago and I thought/hoped something else had come to light.
The Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross boxes are showing 7 February as release date on amazon.de:
http://www.amazon.de/Complete-Motown...pd_sim_sbs_m_2
http://www.amazon.de/Complete-Motown...a+ross+box+set
I don't see them on amazon uk yet but they'll probably be less expensive - the J5 box set is 72 EUR on amazon.de, £40 [[about 49 EUR) on amazon uk.
I think I have everything that will be in the Marvin Gaye box, if so I'll pass on it. For Diana Ross, I don't have Ross [[1978), Baby It's Me [[will Hip-O ever release this?), and a couple live cds - if these are in the box and it's cheap enough I may buy it.

Universal catalogue dept seems to have gone completely arse about face these days. UK product out in a few weeks not for sale in the UK and no more details published. This is after delaying them on the schedules. Hip-o seem to have no clue what they are doing [[not a dig at Andy, George or anyone else who put the projects together, ultimately they don't control the machinery). They just do not seem to see the value in back catalogue anymore beyond the endless recycling of hits. I think if it's going to change they are going to have to be more receptive to re-issue specialists getting into the archives and not simply just re-pressing previously released material like they currently allow. Those specialists seem to make a good living out of these releases but the majors can't, or simply have no appetite, to try. Bah.
All good value methinks, but what is the packaging of the individual CDs like - anything like the Japanese Mini LP format?
I don't know how accurate this listing is, but JPC in Germany has the following albums listed [[though there is no photo):
http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/deta...d/hnum/3040216
Albums: Diana Ross // Everything Is Everything // Diana! // Surrender // Lady Sings The Blues // Touch Me In The Morning // Diana & Marvin // Live At Caesars Place // Mahogany // Diana Ross // An Evening With // Baby It's Me // Ross // The Boss // Diana // To Love Again // Workin' Overtime // The Force Behind The Power // Stolen Moments // Take Me Higher // Every Day Is A New Day // Blue
It will be interesting to see what the format of this box set is., both art work and how much appears on each disc. The price is so much lower than the Japanese releases a couple of years ago and again last year.
Diana's is listed as a "Universal / Motown" release which is a good sign.
Has anyone purchased the Jackson 5 box set from this series? That would offer us a clue as to the format. The picture on Amazon.de shows and actual square, colorful box!

Well the list of Diana Ross albums above only has 22 albums so there's room for "Last Time I Saw Him" still.
The CD sleeves in the Jackson 5 set look remarkably straight edged in this photo. Almost like coasters lol.

I have my copy of the J5 set and awaiting the delivery of the Marvin and Diana sets, not sure the latter two are supposed to be completes.
I have to thank MJJ Universal and YouTube for this video link which gives you a better idea of what is included in the Jackson 5 Complete Motown Album Collection. It's larger than I imagined and front and backs seem faithful to the original albums [[except for Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5). In another video, all the albums have gate-fold sleeves. The one gate-fold sleeve we can see here appears to be blank. On the whole, though, a good looking and good value set I would say. Bring on the rest!

At Amazon DE one buyer of the J5 box states that the sleeves are gate-fold but there is no booklet in the box.
Amsterdam store Fame is having a weekend sale for card holders starting this evening in which the box is sold for € 35.99 [[including 20% discount)
Kamasu_Jr .. two people have asked you a question in this thread and you've completely ignored them ?
The release date for the Diana Ross box set has been changed on the Amazon.de website to "Currently Not Available."
The release date for Diana on JPC in Germany is now SEPTEMBER 27, 2014!
I got the Jackson 5 complete Motown collection and really like having it. Has anyone heard when the Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye collections will be released?
Looks like Amazon US has this for presale for Oct 7th 2014. I better start saving.
http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Motow...+motown+albums
In the video link above, what was the album they displayed after "GIT"? I didn't recognize that cover and couldn't read the title. Looked like it might be a live album, but don't recall ever seeing an album like that from that period. Does anyone know what title that was?
It's going to be all about packaging for me. The Jackson 5 box is too darn irresistible. If they are as creative with Diana and Marvin.....they got me once again. [[I love the 10 CD Boxsets from Japan on The Supremes and Diana and the 4-Cd boxiest on Marvin's iconic 70s, the Deluxe Editions, the 180 grade vinyl releases, the original two-fers from the 80s, the long boxes and the individual CDs!)
If the Creative Marketing team are working overtime, they got me again.
But what I really, really want is Diana to give Sony the rights to remaster the 80s catalog with bonus material. I have the remastered EMI 80s catalog, but, I need "Fight for It", etc. remastered.
how in heaven's name did they know that October is my birthday month! "Surrender your love baby, surrender your love!
