If musical history had been different, these two titans of Motown would have duked it out vocally, and you could be sure that Berry Gordy would have encouraged the competition as he would ultimately benefit. Sadly for Mary, her ambition got ahead of her and she regretted her decision to leave the label for the rest of her life.
