Summer Breeze – Sultry singer/actress Freda Payne wowed the crowd recently for two nights at Hollywood’s Catalina Bar & Grill. Said Motown vet Iris Gordy, “She performed a really cool set before a packed house. We had a rousing good time during and after the show. Home girl works hard!” Photographer AlanMercer added, “Freda Payne's latest performance at Catalina Grill was unstoppable. She sang her heart and soul out for almost two hours. She was awe inspiring.” Known for her classic song “Band of Gold,” among others, a new CD by Ms. Payne has been released on Mack Records. – Larry Buford [[Photos by Alan Mercer)

She is still drop-dead gorgeous! What a great singer, and so is her sister Scherrie.

FYI: I read an article by Bill Cunliffe who was present when the recording was done for the upcoming CD. It was stated that the recording was done in January 2013 and the CD will not be released until 2014. Why does it take a year to release a CD? Motown was much faster issuing a record or album in the 1960's?
