Cissy Houston -or is it Dionne or Whtiney?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ty_yam3hDw Amazing how you can hear Dionne and Whtiney in her performance--she should have been a huge star.

I agree Luke, Cissy's solo work was totally under-rated. I especially enjoyed her 'Presenting' album.

Gee imagine that. She was an obvious influence on her niece and her daughter. In my mind, Cissy Houston has always been a huge star.

One of my favorite Cissy Houston performances is "I Come To You" with Tony Middleton. It's from the Love Horizon and ended up one of Burt Bachrach's early 70s LP.

Cissy Houston or Siant Cissy as she's known in New York and New Jersey as has one of the most soulful voices in the world. This sweet and decent and lovely lady can raise the roof. I love Miss cissy Houston and Miss Cissy continue to inspire me every day of my life.

It's very funny that this thread is started.. I was JUST about to ask a question about Cissy Houston and Dionne about 5 minutes ago until I saw this one.. so I guess I can pose my question here.. [[if you don't mind luke)... Who do you think did it better, Cissy or Dionne... I love me some Dionne, now... BUT, Cissy put some STANK on this one... http://youtu.be/yR8b8XMGqas

You know who I think Cissy sounds the most like? Dee Dee. Her tone quality and voice is simmilar to Dee Dee, except she has much more power and better phrasing. She's kind of Dee Dee on Steroids.

Exactly Soul Sister. Cissy came first so she most likely and definitely influenced Dionne, Dee Dee and Whitney. It's a family trait. It's in the DNA.

lol steroids. There is something about Cissy's voice that mesmerizes me--kind of a unique soprano/alto combo. Like on Aint No Way--chill inducing.

You are most welcome! When they, the Houstons sang, it made you forget about any bad things people may have done in their lives and just reflect on the joy of living and of the spirit!

It is very evident that Cissy Houston is an extremely strong woman, spiritually and otherwise! Her life story would make an excellent feature film.

Ive seen some recent interviews with her about her new book and I would not want to mess with her! OPrah said there had been rumors that she had been jealous of Whtineys success and my oh my the look Miss Oprah got.
