There are a lot of transplants here, artists who came to Detroit from elsewhere. Everybody
and their momma knows by now George Clinton came from New Jersey and may know he
was actually born in North Carolina. That said, I'm glad to see mention of a lot who don't
get discussed enough these days. Something that has puzzled me for over 30 years now
is the question of who the funk were The Gambrells? While I like You Better Move, their
Find A Love is the song that endeared their group sound to me. The lead also does some
Gladys Horton like ad -libbing near the song's end. Gotta be more than coincidence....

"Find A Love" is a great ballad. I checked a book I have called "Soul Harmony Singles 1960-1990" and unfortunately there's no biographical info on the group, they only list their 4 single releases. There doesn't seem to be much out there on this rare group.

Here's something that I did find uploaded by the Chancellor Of Soul Mike Boone on the group. Not a whole lot of info, [[e.g., no mention of the group members' names) but it was nice to see the group being mentioned. Didn't know they had done background vocals on Deon Jackson's "Love Makes The World Go Round."
