    Perri

I love when I make a new and unexpected musical discovery. Today I was at the CD store, looking through the 99 cent bin and found this CD by a group called "Perri", called "The Flight". I wasn't sure whether I should buy it, but I thought for 99 cents, why not. I'm listening to it now and I'm so impressed!! Wow!! Why haven't I heard of these ladies before? They're great. And I've already done a bit of research. It looks like they're all sisters and the lead singer is Lori Perri, who continues to record as a solo artist. She sounds very much like Anita Baker. Too cool!! Well worth the 99 cents!!

Carlo that is great! I thought for sure I posted about them on the old forum. Yes all four are sisters and they are from Detroit! They were very visable in the early 90's backing Anita on programs such as Saturday Night Live, Late Show w/Joan Rivers, The Tonight Show and Soul Train to name a few. They had a nice hit as a part of the soundtrack to Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" with the song "Feels So Good".

Here they are with another nice one "It's Been You" [[ a cover of Anita's original):

Thanks Marv! Great cover of Anita's "It's Been You".

Apparently they have a new album on the way very soon called, "Where Ya Been".

It would be very good to hear from them again as they are super talented vocalists.

Carlo, they had a song on that album called "I'm the One," that got a considerable amount of airplay in New York around the beginning of 1989. I'm surpired it never charted. That song is the reason why I bought the cassette. It sounded like Rufus' "Ain't Nobody" and was written by Keni Burke.

You're right, Marc. It does sound a lot like "Ain't Nobody".

Last I heard, two of the sisters are backing George Michael's. They also still sing back for Anita baker from time to time.
