this was never viewed as another but a 1X thing for DMC. there was never any talk or interest in DRATS reuniting. Diana was barely willing to do this one night, as she really wanted nothing to do with her old motown days. she was trying to make her independent solo career a success and the more people referred back to the "good old days" the less they focused on her new stuff. of course given the lower quality of her new material, she was really going to struggle. but even if it was great, she would probably always be haunted by her past. similarly to how the 70s sups could never break free of their 60s legacy.

the M25 reunion was simply looked at as a ratings ploy to get this tv special to be massive in the ratings. they were touting the reunion of the J5, smokey and the miracles, and others PLUS the reunion of Diana Ross And The Supremes. that one was also sort of mentioned last and with extra emphasis. people still viewed The Supremes as the top motown creation.

but again, this was a 1X thing
