The Rock Hall is so discredited and getting their ass kicked for the failure to induct black artists, female artists and black female artists that I think we are beginning to see them trying to rehabilitate themselves.

I’m no expert but didn’t they recently induct Whitney, Chaka and Pat Benatar? But they gotta get in all the white rock bands that had few hits but they feel influenced somebody or other.

Whitney had at least 68 honors!

Also, I forgot to add this but both Whitney and Aretha have solo recordings on RIAA/NEA's Songs of the 20th Century. "Respect" was number 4, "I Will Always Love You" No. 108. The Supremes' "Stop! in the Name of Love" was sandwiched in between at No. 93. So I guess that adds to their piles.

    But you get the idea.

Y'all have to understand that for years, politics heavily played into how some folks got in. But that's true for every establishment institution and award institutions. It's easy to dismiss it when your fave is not honored. I'm sure Diana isn't losing sleep over whether or not she'll get inducted as a solo artist in the RRHOF or not. I mean, it's stunning it took the Grammys as long as they did to give her and the Supremes a lifetime Grammy.

Jann Wenner caused enormous damage to the Hall of Fame that he was involved in starting.

As a result of the uproar, they already appear to be making some steps to not be identified as a racist, misogynist, corrupt, “buy your way in if you know the right male chauvinist pig” entity.

i agree , but when the RRHOF started, it seemed to be on track with inducting pioneers of Rock, but it seems that took a detour.
i stopped caring about it. actually , most of the award shows i have given up on

I think Cher recently said they could “f” themselves and she wasn’t going in now or ever - likely a well deserved award she gave them

I think lots of people feel like David - there are lots of inequities that develop over the years and generations and it makes these awards seem less important and valuable

The Grammys gave out very few awards initially and now they appear to give out hundreds

Eh I've not given up on it. For every dud they induct, they induct a lot of worthy acts that needed to be there.
