Ironically, I met the Tempts first; Otis, Melvin, Ali, Ron Tyson, Richard Street and eventually Dennis, Eddie and David [[albeit the last three only briefly)

According to Tyson's version of the story, I deserted them for the Tops...LOL..kinda true but not exactly. I loved the Tempts but was a big Tops fan from jr. high and the Tops were really cool and down to earth peeps to hang out with.

Obie was like a brother to me and he introduced me to Ronnie Mac [[McNeir), who I do PR and admin work for from time to time and also Clarence Paul, who introduced me to a few other Motown folk [[on a hello , nice to meet you basis)

My connection to Motown is minuscule considering some other folk around here. Back in the day [[ here on SDF) it was on like popcorn. LOL

BTW, I'm guessing you know that Ralph [[our moderator) has a twin brother [[Russell) who was a sound engineer at Motown. Russ mixed more than 80, #1 hits for the company starting back in the 60's.

That is just crazy, I couldn't even dream of something like that

Also, I knew Ralph had a brother called Russell, and I kinda knew that he did some work at Motown but I had no idea he had done THAT!!! Nor did I know about the fascinating work Ralph has done!! I just read that feature and, wow, I am in awe...

TomatoTom123, when I first came to SDF I was totally blown away by all the players [[and I mean that in a good way) that use to frequent here and the ones that would post even before I came to SDF. Whatever I've been able to help Ronnie Mac with is a direct result of all the knowledge, I found here on the forum and much of it from people who were all in the biz back in the day or simply movers and shakers in their own field.

Even though I took an extended break, I still have folks here I love dearly but I'm telling you, this place use to be off the hook [[sometimes good and sometimes bad) but off the hook just the same.

Artists are simply people like you and me and I've been fortunate to hang out [[or talk to)many that I consider the cream of the crop but if you do a little digging, I'm not the only one.

I too am blown away! It's crazy [[in a good way of course) here

I always forget that artists are just people, to me they are legends and the thought of even meeting or knowing them BLOWS my mind!

I still love it here though, I keep learning and learning things, and it fuels my love/obsession for Motown...!!
