It was worth it but there comes a time when 4 inches gets reduced to 2 inches!

I'm like that with trousers. I'm quite slim, and could wear quite tight trousers...but then I can't take much around with me....

Ever since I broke my hip, I've had to have an insert in my right shoe, so I'm limited for choice.

Did the hip mend on its own, or need replacement?

Not unless one does it very, very slowly, with someone else on either side, to assist with the lifts....

    I slipped on ice.

I broke my hip in January 2009. I knew the BBC was showing programmes celebrating Motown's anniversary. It had stopped snowing and I went out to buy the Radio Times so that I could post the information on the Forum. I slipped avoiding an oncoming car, and my hip hit the pointed edge of the kerb. As well as a hip replacement, I have a titanium rod in my femur. Ironically, as I was in hospital, I missed all the programmes.

Very bad luck indeed. Presumably, with a hip replacement, and also a titanium rod in your femur, you have to be extra careful with that leg. I guess you may have difficulties with bending...?

I'm not so sure westgrand. Those IM Rods in the femur stabilize those fractures quite nicely. As far as your total hip replacement that was a nasty fracture!!!!!

I'm going by what my aunt tells me, but she has had two hip replacements [[wore out), so that may make a difference.

Since then, if she has ever fallen, she can't get to her feet without assistance....

Best note me as a 'Rockie', Moe. I could manage a high kick in cuban heels [[in fact, it's easier than in flats), but those Rockettes' shoes wouldn't be appropriate, let alone the costumes . Over here, we have The Tiller Girls [[always opened the 'Sunday Night At The Palladium' shows back in the 60s), and there were also 'The Bluebell Girls'.

In these equal opportunity times, I can't immediately think of a male dance company known for their high kicks....

I started walking with a frame, then two sticks, and then one. It took me about ten months before I stopped using the stick. I still have difficulty getting up if sitting on the floor, but after having physio my balance is probably better now than before my accident.

Exactly. Hours of practising standing on one leg for 30 seconds.

Here's something to try. Stand on one leg for a few seconds, then close your eyes. You'll be surprised at how difficult it becomes.
