Probably just en-route for somewhere, used your basement as a stop-over, then decided they wouldn't make it permanent.....

It doesn't. There were never any flies on Meatloaf....quite unlike the "Bat Outta Hell" offer....now available in McDonalds Fly-Thrus....

True fact. There was a newspaper report a while back about an argument at a McDonalds Drive-through because they wouldn't serve a girl who was riding a horse.

Speaking of those women, quite prevalent, who seem rather carnivorous in their relationships, and who then like to publicise how it has all gone wrong for them. Generally speaking, they are generally speaking...

Women who constantly say what's wrong in their relationships better look in the mirror; they are the one constant in those relationships!!

Angela Lansbury's version is a good version, but heavily customised for your American market. There are those in the industry who feel that , without it, you [[our friends over there) would never understand what was being said, or happening. I suppose they knew what they were doing, but it doesn't give much credit to the intelligence of American viewers.

For what it's worth, over here, Joan Hickson is still considered the quintessential Miss Marple. If you've not yet seen it, check out her 'The Mirror Crack'd From Side To Side', from 1992...it might seem quaint and really dated, but it is fully authentic, and true to the original novels, and their timescale.

Interesting to learn you think that. After I posted the comment, I then wondered if authenticity was only more important to me, simply because Agatha Christie was from this side of the Atlantic. Time moves on, and most people watching TV wll not relate back to the novels, or even read them.

To be fair to both ladies :

When starring as Miss Marple, Joan Hickson was in her first ever leading TV or film role, and was also in her 80s. She was always really a character actress.

Angela Lansbury is a leading lady, and was much better suited to 'Murder, She Wrote' than Joan H. would ever have been.

    Takes all sorts......

PS. do you ever have trouble understanding any of the regional accents from productions from the UK?

Angela Lansbury's grandfather, George Lansbury, was leader of the UK Labour Party in the mid-1930s.

I can imagine those two in Parliament, at Prime Minister's Question Time.

If questions from the Opposition had become a tad tricky, Angela and Beatrice could have just launched into 'Bosom Buddies'......

Perhaps see if the buses near you go out to Bletchley Park? Or let the train take the strain, as it's almost opposite the station....

A common code, a code in the head. Makes you sniff. Usually results in a blocked node.
