Haven't tried to make shortbread yet [[a really nice one is always good to eat) but did have a first attempt at 'damp gingerbread' last weekend.

It wasn't as attractive to me as my Mum's ginger cake with gooey topping used to be [[have been searching, but not found her recipe- yet!) but it was OK - and it's all gone....

Funny how we all remember something our mother used to make! Mine made this "2 day cake" that she only made once a year, and only for my sister's birthday [[guess I didn't rate!)

Aha! Sounds like you may have been a victim of cake discrimination, Moe. LOL

The sad part is when, after decades of experience, the cakes then start turning out all wrong, and Mums can't understand how it is happening...

One wonderful day, someone [[let's call them a body electrician) will be able to check out the circuits in our brains, and replace or re-route our thought impulses when they show signs of a fault and start to fail us- just like someone bringing an old electrical wiring system up to date, or tracing and repairing a fault in a telephone system.......

Sheep are known to survive for extended periods under snowdrifts.

Make of that what you will.

If you mean how does it happen, I think they shelter as best they can in exposed countryside, but the snow just keep coming down on them, and they become trapped.

After that, I guess they just sit there, woolgathering, and counting sheep....

On that subject, I find the smell of baking bread, and the sight of a very crusty fresh white loaf, almost irresistible.
