Pardon my word usage, but I can't think of any state culturally "whiter" than Alaska, other than Utah, Idaho, Maine, North and South Dakota, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and Montana. I honestly can't see any soul music coming out of any of those places.

i hear you soulster, but i'm thinking that there's got to be at lease one soul singer in every state and in spite of sarah palin there are blacks in alaska,i guess none with a singing voice!

I hear Sarah Palin is leaving the group for a solo career. Buzz is Michele Bachmann has been tapped to be her replacement.

Have there ever been any singers to emerge from Alaska, let alone a soul singer? The only one I can think of [[and that's only because I'm a huge fan of theirs) is Kelly Moneymaker, who in 1991 replaced Gioia Bruno in the girl group Expose. After Expose broke up, Kelly went on to be a session singer and she was one of Diana Ross' background singers when Ross performed on that telethon a few years back to benefit victims of the tsunami.

Maybe a little off tangent. But, I sometimes use this as a reference:
