Thank you for sharing this Motown Eddie. Rest in peace Stix.
I did not know he played with Junior Walker early on or a member of Jr. Walker and the Allstars. .

What a wonderful man who was ever so nice! He sent us pictures of when he played at the Apollo - I will miss him.
I didn’t know a lot about Billy, but I do now. What a great and talented guy. Like Marv I didn’t even know he played with Junior Walker & The All Stars!
RIP Billy
Here's a partial list of Jr Walker tracks on which Billy played:
[[I'm A) Road Runner
Ame Cherie [[Soul Darling)
Cleo's Back
Hot Cha
How Sweet It Is [[To Be Loved By You)
Last Call
Moonlight In Vermont
Shake And Fingerpop
Shotgun
Sweet Daddy Deacon [co-written by Billy, with Junior and Vic Thomas]
Tune Up
An alternative version of "Ame Cherie" will appear on the digital download "Motown Unreleased 1967", coming in December.

Interesting list Keith.
I knew he played the drums on Junior's version of 'How Sweet it Is', [[the style and feel of the drums always stood out as different), but it's definitely Benny Benjamin on 'Shotgun' & '[[I'm A) Roadrunner'.
From what I can recall, he replaced The All Stars regular drummer James Graves in 1966, [[he says in the video he joined Jr again in Dec 1965) and as Shotgun was recorded at the end of 1964, he couldn't have been on that. [[Shotgun & Roadrunner are classic Benjamin!)
Still, a great talent, and from the interviews and articles I've seen on him, seemed like a lovely bloke!
Cheers

Paul
I wondered about "Shotgun", given what Billy says in the interview. The session lists were sent to French discographer Kurt Mohr by Esther Edwards, and published on various French LP covers and in magazines. So they come from a good source, but that doesn't mean they're right!
