Chaka Live - Worth the Effort?

Chaka is appearing near home in Newark NJ in June; I've loved her since the Rufus days but have never heard an unqualified 'gotta see her' about her concerts. What do we think - stay home or attend? FYI ticket sales seem very slow. El DeBarge is the opener.

Chaka live has always been like the proverbial box of chocolates. Lately, though, she's been incredibly consistent and "on." I'd say go check her out, especially if you've never seen her.

Yes, you're right sansradio. I used to hear the same, but as you said, in the last five years, I've only read great reviews. I saw her for the first time two years ago and I was mesmerized and blown away. I really want to see her again. Go see Chaka!! Let us know about the show if you decide to attend

Don't quote me on this, but I also read on another forum that she has added "We Can Work It Out" and "So Naughty" to her recent shows.

I have seen "both sides" of Chaka live. I have seen her when she has literally blown me away by her magnificence , and i have also seen the other Chaka when she evidently could not be bothered to make the required effort. If you see her at her best you will think it to be money very well spent, but if you see the other Chaka you will be fuming. I would say it is well worth the risk , and with El Debarge as support it could well be a night to remember. Good luck.
