Such a pity she passed on recording this she makes a great job of it even now imagine what it would have been like back in the day

I remember reading an interview with Kim many years ago in which she said she never really thought "Dancing" was for her. Mickey apparently said something about a new song one evening and thought maybe she might like it and either played her a few bars or had a demo or something for her to check out while it was still in its formative stages. She said something to the effect of her possibly thinking about it for maybe five minutes and paying it no further mind. Evidently Mickey didn't press the issue any further and then he and Ivy Jo and Marvin worked on it a little more and ultimately Martha added her input, which apparently was substantial, nailed it in one take which turned out to have some technical flaws and had to do it again, and the rest is history. I suspect it was a very different song when Kim heard it that first time. Had she recorded it before all that tweaking, it probably wouldn't have been what it turned out to be.
