I attended the one-night-only concert version of the L.A. Musical Theatre Guild's production of "Hallelujah, Baby!," which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1968. The original star of the show was Leslie Uggams. The emcee asked Freda Payne to stand and said that she had been Ms. Uggams' understudy and that she went on FIVE times for Ms. Uggams. And then the emcee said that seated next to Freda Payne is her sister Scherrie who was a Supreme. Applause. That's pretty much all the emcee said. But Scherrie looked great.
This took place at The Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
