I like Shane [[Alan Ladd) and One Eyed Jacks [[Marlon Brando) for all of the old westerns. But my favorite western films are Unforgiven and Open Range.

    And it ain't even close.

My father was a HUGE Western Movie fan [[aka Cowboy Movies). I think he had a lot to do with him growing up in the late 40s and early 50s. We had to watch them all the time when he was at home. "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" was a favorite.

Don't forget one of the most influential movies [[let alone Western movies) of all time, High Noon. The theme of the lone lawman stressing over the passing of time as certain death nears has been done in multiple genres. Curiously, it had the production values of a B movie but a much larger impact.

Best scenes in Westerns are always the shoot-em-up scenes. Here is the money scene from "Unforgiven". This is great.

And finally, the most iconic Western scene of all, the Mexican standoff in "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly":

What some may not know is that clint did the hanging stunt himself, and almost hanged for real as the rope didn't give way for the stunt but luckily they got to him in time...whew!!!

And the Fred Williamson "Legend of N***** Charley". I remember them bleeping out part of the title on the radio promos when I was in junior high school. When it comes on late night TV, they changed it to "Black Charley". They even made a sequel to it, so I suppose it did okay at the box office.

Anybody mention Thomasine & Bushrod? Max Julien and Vonetta McGee were the golden couple of my early childhood.

LOL. To think that artists used to actually give two ****s about how they presented themselves to their fans back in the day. Those brothers are clean! Today, they couldn't jump like that because their pants would fall down around their ankles.

Yep. That was before guys flew backwards when they got shot as if bullets hit people like a 2 x 4 hit them instead of flying through them. I stop paying attention when they get shot five feet off of their feet.

Bump: We’re watching SERGEANT RUTLEDGE now, with Woody Strode, Jeffrey Hunter and Billie Burke. Very gripping and daring for 1960.
