In The Midnight Hour: The Life & Soul of Wilson Pickett
I am currently reading this recently-released book, authored by Tony Fletcher, and thought it might be of interest to some of you.
As someone who knows very little of Pickett besides his great recordings and whatever I learned from his UNSUNG episode, I am finding the book to be very interesting. It details the making of each of his albums, his relationship with the various labels he recorded for, his adventures on the road, and his various familial relationships.
IMO, the book is well-balanced, certainly not a Wilson Dearest, but his warts aren't excluded, either.

Thanks for the heads-up, reese! This is going onto my interminable list. Pickett was ANYTHING but boring! Keep me posted on your thoughts.
Ok,this is good info thanks.
Thanks Reese ! Right now I'm reading the great Curtis Mayfield bio (written by his son Todd) and this Wilson's book is on my list !

Another thanks Reese. That will be the next book I check out. The last one was the Mayfield (by son) book. It was great. Wilson, JB and Bobby Womack sure could holler. Wilson hollering along with that guitar work to close out "Hey Jude" is a work of art.
