guitar: how can I make a little money composing and singing

Hi good people. I am new to music and I have found out that composing is fun. Still learning to play guitar, sing, etc. Fast-forward: given that most music is now free online, how will I be able to make money from the songs I compose [[well, given that I choose not to perform to an audience)?
