Question on Barney Ale's New Book

This is directed to those who are fortunate enough to have a copy of Motown: The Sound of Young America which was recently released.

On page 18 - Motown At a Glance there are illustrations of the various labels, Tamla, Motown, Gordy, VIP, Soul, Rare Earth, etc.

On the Tamla the third insignia down

    TaMLa
Underneath it is an underscore under the Ta and under the La in a oddly shaped box.

Has anyone ever seen this illustration before? I have seen every other one on pages 18 and 19 but this totally escapes me.

    Anybody recognize this unusual illustration?

    Thanks.

Thank you. I never saw it because I don't have the album,,,,,,,, Wonder if it was on any other advertising or other records, i. e. 45's, etc. It was a little hard to describe.

Roger: Thank you, you solved the mystery. I just went to www.bsnpubs.com and looked at the album cover. It appears that this is the only album that had it on - ones before it did not and ones after that did not. A rare oddity. I learned something today. Thank you.
