    It is part of an ABC program called TWO SINGERS: TWO PROFILES or something like that. One singer profiled was Gloria Loring. Aretha was the other.

    Aretha's profile was called ARETHA FRANKLIN: SOUL SINGER. In addition to the clip above, footage was shown of her 1968 Cobo Hall concert in Detroit where Dr. King surprised her on stage, in church singing with her brother Cecil, as well as footage of her at the piano with then-husband Ted White.

    I am going to bet it was from a documentary. They use to produced some really interesting ones on PBS in the late 80s and early 90s. I think the series was called "American Masters".

    Reese is correct as I remember when it aired and Aretha's segment is longer than what we are seeing here. Her performance on Swingin' Time was just part of the segment on her on this TV special. Ted White, her then-husband, is shown quite a bit.
