'Pals Are Praying!' Diana Ross — Looking Disheveled Amongst New Drug Fears

    http://www.nationalenquirer.com/phot.../photo/156603/

The National ENQUIRER caught Diana Ross out shopping at Beverly Hills — but the legendary diva looked more in need of a a beauty parlor! The 72-year-old singer has always let her hair take the spotlight, but Miss Ross' beauty was almost lost amongst the locks! Disturbingly, though, Diana's surprising look comes just as her friends fear the star might relapse into prior addictions!

Diana, 72, recently complained of neck, back and head injuries after an SUV driver ran a stop sign and plowed into her limo in Bethlehem, Pa. “Diana was treated at the scene by paramedics," reported a source, "but said that she would seek further medical help on her own — suggesting that she was in agony!" Close pals are already worried that the post-crash pain could lead to Diana taking potentially addictive painkillers!

Despite her request, pals are still wary of Diana taking medication — especially in the wake of the shocking recent death of fellow soul legend Prince. “They are praying Diana can get through this without dangerous painkillers,” said an insider.

The ENQUIRER was there when Miss Ross last checked into into a drug and alcohol treatment center in 2002. After this recent crash — which occurred as she was on the way to perform at the Sands Casino Complex in Pennsylvania — a determined Diana [[seen here as fans usually know her) insisted the show must go on.

Meanwhile, Diana is also dealing with a fellow star recently bringing up her druggie days. In her new book "A Memoir," Toni Tennille describes a wild party at a Beverly Hills home reportedly owned by Diana. The innocent star voice of The Captain & Tennille describes her shock at opening a door to a room where “people were sitting at a table around a large mirror covered with lines of white powder."

Toni adds that a man inside was bent over the mirror while holding a straw — and he beckoned her inside! “I shook my head and walked away," Toni wrote, "leaving an eruption of laughter behind me.

She's the lady that was married to the Captain. They had a hit called "Muskrat Love" in 70s. She use to party at Diana Ross' house.

I read her book and she's being misquoted. She said she was at a home that someone said belonged to Diana Ross. Didn't mean that it was.

The lengths some of these people will go to sell books and as always ..........................................You know back in the 60's I walked in a home they said was once owned by Leonardo Da Vinci and everyone was naked.

The way the chapter reads CaptainJames, Toni was lured to the party after being told it was at Diana Ross's home. She wanted to meet Ross and went. She never saw Ross there but did witness the coke snorting and promptly left. How many people are going to let someone turn their home into a drug den without them being there?

As Mary Wilson found out, you can't sell books without sensationalism and involving the STARS!

I'm sure that hair was just the result of a strong gust of wind.

I am assured by sources close to Diana that she is just fine. She is less than impressed with Toni Tennille's revelations especially as she barely knows Toni. This lady has a book to sell and i am disappointed because she is a talented woman with a lovely voice and surely had no need to go down the Mary Wilson route. Mary was broke so i can cut her a little slack for what she did but Toni continues to make a steady living on the quality of her voice. I await further information which i shall pass on if i am able to.

Sadly there are some people who would like nothing better than for her to go down that destructive road again.

The lady is fine. Here is a recent article with story that says that Diana, at 72, looks youthful in flowing blouse during grocery run in Beverly Hills where she was spotted making her way back to her car with a cart full of a few reusable shopping bags at high end grocery store Bristol Farms.

She must love to food shop. Quite a few articles about it. She looks likes she is doing fine. No need to be concerned about her

I doubt that Mary is broke. But in an interview with her, in her own words, she said that she has financial problems, has to work even though she is in her seventies, never planned or invested for a rainy day and the rainy day is here. The interview does not come from the Enquirer.

While Mary may not be broke, it must cause anxiety to have to work when in your seventies. I am in her age bracket, but have savings and investments to supplement my social security. I can still lead the life I did when working and feel secure in my old age. And of course, my mortgage was paid off decades ago.

No, Mary is not broke. If I understand her interview correctly, she just always lived over her means and is always trying to catch up - even in her seventies.

Mary Wilson, a member of legendary singing group The Supremes, opens up about Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, and money.

    [Read Part 1 here]

In the first part of our interview with legendary singer and original member of the great Supremes, Mary Wilson shared that she deeply wants to restore her relationship with the group’s lead singer Diana Ross and that she wished that she could have helped original member Florence Ballard with her problems with alcohol and depression.

Through her childhood experiences and the financial success that came with the Supremes, Wilson says she has learned a lot about her relationship with money. She continues to share her insights with BE.com.

Tisdale: Going from difficult financial circumstances to great wealth proves challenging for a lot of people. What was your experience?

Wilson: I have learned that having money can make life easier, but if you don’t invest or save for that rainy day, it can be devastating. I’ve also learned the dangers of believing that that rainy day will never come.

After graduating high school, my thinking was that if I got a hit record it would secure my future. At the age of 20, we got our first million-selling record. My future was secured, and after five consecutive No. 1 records, I was convinced.

I was making so much money, and thought I was doing the right thing by hiring accountants, managers, PR firms, etc. The spending, however, was too much. I always thought, however, that I would catch up but I was never ahead.

Tisdale: How has that played out?

Wilson: After many years of this cycle, the Depression hit. Work in the corporate shows I had been doing dried up. Also, fighting some bad lawsuits, where people were chasing the name of the Supremes, and fake groups took the savings I had. I also loaned money to others that I never got back. I realized that this was the rainy day people talked about. Now, after 60 years, I find myself having to work, and think about all the money I threw away. All I can say for myself is that I should have listened to them and they said save for that rainy day. However, thank God I love what I do and still have a voice. Mom was right; a better education would have certainly helped.

So yes, money can make life easier, as I have had a great life, had I saved, however, it would be even better now.

A fellow performer whom i shall not name here told me quite recently that Mary has always enjoyed the finer things in life and has lived beyond her means for decades. If this is true it would account for her continuing to work as hard as she does . It is her business and no-one elses.

That won't happen. Her face is fuller now than it was then. The slicked back hair in a bun look of the 1970s was classic because it served to accentuate the sharp angular bone structure of her face, which was apparent back then. I like her hair as it is now because no one else could make it work like Diana Ross does. When ya find something that makes a bold statement to match your bold personality I think you should run with it.

Miss Diane Ross is doing fine. Look at her this past Saturday night onstage in Aspen and backstage after the show with basketball star Dwight Howard.

72 is the new 40 when it comes to Miss Rosss.
