Thumbs up Patti checks homeboy acting a fool

I've lived with the fact that Ms. Patti is a proud Gemini. And I applaud her for checking this fool, having the nerve to strip and sh*t. As Pat said, she's 71, she's not Miley or Nicki or Madonna, she's not down for any messy ish. Better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

I saw Patti a few years back at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Before she brought some fans on stage, she said "Treat me like you would treat your mother." She then asked one guy "Can you sing?" He said "No. But I know how to make love." She went off!

She said "Didn't I tell you to treat me like you treat your mother? Do you know I will kick your ass? Security!" The next thing we knew, security had pulled the guy off stage and was escorting him out. Miss Patti does not play.

^ I think I remember seeing that on YouTube [[not sure it was the Brooklyn Academy or not but I do remember someone posting a clip). Patti truly don't play lol

Little boys need to behave with Mama Pat. She wasn't born yesterday.

Patti need to learn if she is gonna bring people up on the stage, then she needs to be able to deal with overzealous fans with grace and style. Here , the only thing she's doing is stooping to his level, and he was trying to have fun, after all... you wouldn't think a woman who would put on a chicken suit and sing "Do you wanna sleep with me tonight" in French would be a prude! She used to stand onstage with women who were wearing metal brassieres and armour plating over their cooches!

I was a MAJOR Labelle [[the group) fan, and an average Patti solo fan, so it's sad for me to admit that I've found her behavior to be a bit - off. Throwing a bottle of water into the face of a young mother, the incident with her son beating the soldier, her recount of bloody fistfights with her sisters [[in her bio), this incident - just puts me off. The right way to have handled this one? Simply gesture/whisper whatever for security to hustle the guy off the stage and keep going. Nobody needs lectures about the devil while Donald Trump leads the Republican slate.

Doggone, jill lol [[but yeah I forgot that period; that was a period she said she "fought" over lol; Patti was the "traditionalist" in Labelle)

I see your point and Robert's though.

She isn't perfect - who is?
However i agree such behaviour does her no favours. She should stick to what she does so well - singing and leave the other stuff to younger and less talented individuals.

Yeah. You notice she hasn't sang the full "Lady Marmalade" song since the '80s? That routine does get tired real fast. But I guess she had to find another way to perform it since she probably felt ashamed singing it.

Maybe she's supposed to be born again? I don't know lol but yeah maybe it would be in her best interest not to include fans onstage anymore.

Damn I hate it when veteran artists get religion and conservative, and disregard their musical past. Think: Prince.

^ I do too. I didn't like the religious affectations after that. Especially after she yelled the b-word.

    Diana would NEVER lol

I don't think she disregards her past too much since I saw a brief clip of her singing the song while Johnny Weir was doing his risque type of skating and she admired it.

Ain't no telling with Ms. Patti.

I wasn't able to view that clip [[guess it's been removed) but I saw her in concert several years ago and witnessed her "going off". She was on stage with a short dress on, stopped the show and accused a man in the front row of looking under her dress and went completely off on him. Then she turned to the woman that he was with and went off on her for "being with a man like that". she went on to say how disrespectful he was and she wouldn't have her man acting like that. I was embarrassed for the couple and completely turned off by her after that. Ma'am, you're on an elevated stage with a dress as long as a t-shirt. Of course, any man will try to take a peek. I really think she needs to get over herself or possibly consider therapy or retirement. These incidents are becoming too frequent.

Pick's Disease is a form of brain ageing that affects social interaction. It usually begins after 75 but can be hastened by other issues.

I think that was a part of the act because she did the same exact thing in Detroit. Unless you are talking about the same show we saw at the Fox?

Maybe that's why she has her dude pick the audience members to join the stage, anyone that didn't look "threatening".

I've read some reviews of her concerts. At best, she seems ill. I guess it can be blamed on diabetic lows. I remember reading a review of her doing a show with Boyz II Men in, I believe, Mississippi, and she basically sharted on them for not thanking her or something and then complain that she was hungry and sat on a chair of some sort and ate some fried chicken someone brought to the stage.

I forgot, she does have diabetes. And, if she's up there eating fried chicken, it is quite possible that she isn't taking care of herself. And, her diabetes could explain some of her erratic behavior if she isn't taking care of herself. It's too bad if she isn't. It's not like she doesn't have the means.

She could still have a little emotional imbalance.

This is all quite worrying. Patti is a real soul survivor and one of the true legends of our music. I know she has a history of being difficult but if she is genuinely unwell we perhaps need to cut the lady some slack.

Yes, I know there is no defence for that and I am not attempting to in any way to condone such actions. Just imagine how this forum would explode if this was a certain former Motown Diva behaving in this way!!

^ TRUE! I used to stan for Patti until recently because of her recent behavior. But it also sounds like she's struggling to deal too.

I've seen Patti three times in concert, the most recent being in July of this year. Two of the three shows were amazing, one of the shows, something seemed wrong, emotionally. She was not her usual self. The latest show in July was outstanding. The best of the three shows I've attended. Patti tells it like it is and doesn't hold back. She admitted in an interview this past spring that she was going through a depression a few years ago and it was also affecting her voice. I think this was happening when I saw her in concert for the second time, as something was definitely not right. I think this is also when the whole run-in with the cadet happened, followed by the run-in with the toddler and the parents in New York. Not trying to excuse her behaviour though. Seems like she's in a better place now, in her life.

The guy who was stripping onstage was behaving inappropriately, but she should have let her security guy escort him off, instead of acting out like that.

It was in 1991 I believe. I brought my lady and my parents to that show. My Mom mentioned that incident just this summer. I was there when that happened.

Interesting comment, carlo. But that definitely could explain her erratic behavior for sure... she hasn't been herself in a while. It's sad to see our legends deteriorate like that. I'm kinda reminded of Nina Simone now when some R&B divas "act out". :/

The sad thing about famous and wealthy people is that they rarely have anyone to tell them when they are going too far or to take better care of themselves. Mostly what these people have around them are "yes men" who are only around for a paycheck.
