Motown Songs That Should Have Movies

Can you think of Motown songs that could have inspired the plot line of a movie? I can picture for I'm Living' in Shame a movie about a woman with a husband/small son whose mother died. We get glimpses of hers and her mother's ups and downs as she struggles with her own guilt and forgiving stages.

If you listen to[i'm living in shame]the story is closer to[imitation of life]..the smokey gem[i can't find]could be the told in flashback-a youngman loses his true love through his own selfishness and realises too late that true love sometimes only comes once.

Perhaps not the song by itself, but I always thought the cover of the album "If I Were Your Woman" was really clever...showing Gladys picturing herself with each of the three Pips. At least, it was cute and clever if you could forget the fact that they were related to her, including one who was her brother! But it was clearly inspired by kind of a movie plot idea.

Elvis would have been good in my movie "Hot Cha" as one of the factory lads.

I always thought "Benjamin" by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas sounded like a movie theme, and it told a great story.

Another Reeves tune, "Nowhere to Run," would have been a great theme to a stalking film similar to "Fatal Attraction."

Kenneth - You might be interested to know that in the new movie LOVE AND MERCY about The Beach Boys, a scene turns up with NOWHERE TO RUN playing in the background and it was a real rush to hear it. Sounded so good. Totally agree with you--that recording is ready-made for its close-up on the silver screen.

Wow, that is so funny! I think that was the first "Motown song" I was really aware of. though it was already an oldie when I heard it. However, back then they used to sell oldies in the record stores for quite a while after their time on the charts. I remember the record store where I shopped having a huge wall of 45s, probably 200 or so in all. Anyway, it seemed like a huge number. That's where I bought "Nowhere to Run."

What Becomes of the Brokenhearted [[Jimmy Ruffin, The Supremes)

A melodrama about a sad and lonely group of ageing music fans who spend their wasted lives interminably arguing and antagonising on social media about the merits and minutiae of a famous 60s girl group Any resemblance to real persons living or dead is purely coincidental

Maybe a better title for 144man's movie would be "Living in a World I Created For Myself!"
