    Answer this 81

Ok supremes nation[hi miss roberta]this one is for you,now we all know that[where did our love go]was turned down by the marvelettes, now there was another song written with the marvelettes in mind that was given to the supremes, name it and who gave it to them?

Shot in the dark: Smokey Robinson Your Heart Belong to Me. This always sounded like a Mary Wells song more than the Supremes.

Could be a number of songs as they were switch around a bit like "After All" or even "Someday We'll be Together"

Second shot in the dark: H-D-H When the Lovelight Starts Shinning sounds like something the Vandellas would have recorded.

Interesting how we all can hear Martha singing "Lovelight," but apparently it was originally written with The Marvelettes in mind. Can anyone "hear" Gladys Horton singing the tune? I think I can...but not sure if I'd hear it as a single by them, though!

So "Lovelight" originally had the Marvelettes doing it, then in the key of Martha Reeves but one of the HDH members decided the Supremes needed a sizzler and gave them that to start them off... what a doozy...lol I always thought the song was meant to be for the Vandellas, it was strikingly similar to Heatwave.

......also, "When The Lovelight..." is similar and recorded around same time as Mary Wells' "You Lost The Sweetest Boy".....so it's yet another of those 'could have been' releases for several acts

Out of curiosity, can you provide the source of this information? Is there an interview or link somewhere?

    My thoughts entirely, Mary.

It's been 50 years. While I don't automatically doubt what Arr&bee says, equally I've never heard of it before.

There is so much I don't know, and a great deal of information to be learned which is of interest, but I do need firm authenticated evidence, to separate the facts from hearsay or conjecture.
