I stumbled across Leon Bridges thru a tv commercial and I thought he was a 60's artist I had never heard of, he has a really great voice.

He's already there - Leon Bridges lives in Texas. I like his voice and many of the songs, but I'm not too keen on the 'hard edge' to the backing instrumentation.

Maybe so, but everyone has the right to their own opinion. There seems to be this notion
nowadays that we all "have to" accept everything presented to us and not just in music.
Anyway, I was more impressed by Leon's guitar playing than his singing. I've been searching
all over but I haven't found too many male R&B vocalist that have floored more in a very long time. That contemporary R&B radio still doesn't play Ryan Shaw boggles my mind. I
suspect Leon will do well with the just wanna dress up and chill to some grooves crowds
but hammering a giant nail on the map of soul music history ala Al Green, just doesn't appear to be in the cards for him at this point...Wish he'd consider being a blues guitarist...
