    Motown and reggae

Talking to a founder /partner of one of the largest record labels yesterday, we hit on the very close links between motown / soul and the reggae covers released in Jamaica and the UK which furthered exposure to motown, albeit at grass roots..... some very nice examples of the charm of these covers which still captured the essence of the songs even though budgets were very tight.......

Nice version based on Jimmy's take of the song.

    For the Motown fans there's a great 3 CD's Box-set : Motor City Reggae : http://www.allmusic.com/album/trojan...e-mw0000735097
Showing how much the Motown songs are classical and universal.

here's a playlist of the Air Jamaica tracks..... they feature the original Motown vocal tracks over reggae rhythms.... 12 tracks in total....... I think they work really well........... Listen especially to Marvin on Stubborn Kind Of Fellow and Diana on Love Hangover - really very creative without losing the melody. Look on youtube for Motown Flies Jamaica Remi Riberolles

Like it! Whilst somewhat unpolished, it still carries the tune and has an awful lot of charm to these old ears

I remember hearing lots of covers of Temptations songs done live by Jamaican Bands. Some were rather good. Some were great.
