    Baltimore Indictment

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/22/us...T.nav=top-news

"The charges announced by Marilyn J. Mosby, the state’s attorney for Baltimore City, do not differ greatly from those she initially filed against the officers. But getting a grand jury to agree and deliver an indictment is a milestone in a case that has generated national attention."

It's time now for the FOP to break out its whole bag of dirty tricks to 'encourage a fair verdict [[of not guilty)' in the trials. Expect witnesses to 'forget' important details, documents to be lost in transit to the prosecutors, jurors to suddenly recuse themselves to tend to family obligations [[namely helping their spouses and kids fight recently filed criminal charges), and that the defense will be given wide latitude in its efforts while the prosecution will have its hands tied.

The action by the officers in this case is no different than its been in Baltimore in the normal course of jurisprudence in the past 30 years. The police are still confused about how they got there when the heirarchy has evaluated their performance based on the generation of arrest statistics. They have no idea why civil liberties are anything that they need to care about or why the bad guys - namely any inner-city resident who is not a cop - seem to be carrying the day.

I'm beginning to think that hoping for justice is like banging my head against a brick wall.
