Nice clip. I've read that Dionne never performed this song in concert because she wasn't very fond of it.

Who made the male version of this song. Was it Roy Hamilton?

I can't blame her. I am a huge Dionne fan but that is one of my least favorite songs by her.

Mine too. And yet I love Roy Hamilton version.

I understand that Dionne recorded it in the UK.

That's what I read as well. She complained about the musicians taking too many breaks and I don't think she was fond of the backing singers, either.

Rough, is the word I always associate with The Breakaways.

Coming from 'The Vernons [[football pools) Girls' in Liverpool, the harmonies of The Breakaways could never compare with the gospel church background of Dionne and her family.

You might prefer the mono single version. It sounds much different than the stereo version that you almost only find today, and sounds like a hit single.

I much prefer the version released by Martha & The Vandellas [[with The Andantes on backing vocals)

Only on the radio at the time. I thought it made a nice contrast to her normal output.
