    There was barely a melody to that crappy theme song. Of the hundreds of excellent and memorable television theme songs, how did you pick that one?

    I guess it's easy to see that I'm a jazz fan, huh? With that being said, my favorite theme song from a television show is probably this one from one of my very favorite musicians [[Bob James):

    I loved the musical bombast and sound effects of the Superman theme. Growing up, who didn't?!

    But perhaps my favorite TV show intro is:
    PHYLLIS
    starring Cloris Leachman;
    premiered Sept. 8, 1975.

    56 secs.

    Tunefully somewhat similar to MAME--The Musical with Angela Lansbury. But humorously and conceptually all its own with its accompanying video.

    That's soooo campy! I forgot about it but it came back to mind as soon as I listened to it again. And the deadpan look at the end reminds me that Cloris Leachman was and remains a singularly funny talent.

    Glad you remembered it, Jerry. Cloris' look at the very end is just perfection.

    R&B,
    How about "Eye of the Tiger" or "Eye of the Sparrow" [[?) sung by Sammy Davis, Jr., for the theme song from the t.v. show "Baretta" with Robert Blake.

    How about "Welcome Back Kotter" from the same name t.v. show starring John Travolta.
