VANITY FAIR’s characterization of Florence Ballard’s drinking as the sole reason for her departure from the Supremes was upsetting and misleading. I dated Florence from January 1966, when we met in Puerto Rico, where they were performing and I was celebrating my 20th birthday, until after my graduation from college, in 1967. Anyone close to the group during that period saw Berry Gordy maneuvering to make Diana Ross a solo act. Diana even alluded to this in a conversation she had with me in the dressing room at the Copacabana nightclub, in New York. When I went off to the Middle East, shortly after the Six-Day War, in June 1967, Florence called my home and, in my absence, complained bitterly to my father that they were changing the name of the group to Diana Ross and the Supremes. My father said she sounded drunk. You owe Florence and her daughters, who still live in Detroit, an apology. —ROGER PEARSON, Greenwich, Connecticut
So it is the same guy.
Interesting. Wonder if he could have helped her if he'd stayed around.
To my eyes, I'd say the men in the two links, below, appear to be one and the same. But that's strictly a personal opinion. I have no information to substantiate it.

After re-reading Blondie I thought I would look around and see if I could locate him.
What time does to a body! But sure, it's him.
I thought the comments in Vanity Fair were a letter Pearson wrote in regard to an article about Florence/Supremes.
Yes, that is correct. Marv is saying that the Shelly Berger was interviewed in the article and that Roger is offering another part of the picture concerning what Shelly said.

So when did Florence actually start dating Tommy Chapman?
From everything that I read, she was on-and-off dating him since late 1966 [[I believe that was in Mary's book, but dates could have been confused)s. There are two pictures in one of the books with Florence and Roger that are clearly 1967, so they were at least still involved at the time. There seems to be not so much clear information on Tommy or Flo's and Tommy's stormy relationship.
Funny how life is; maybe Flo would have even lived longer had she ended with with Roger.
Miss Flo doesn't looked too pleased!
Wow, Roger Pearson became first selectman of Greenwich Connecticut - where Diana Ross has lived since the late 1970s. I wonder if they've crossed paths since...
Shelly Berger has also said that he had no idea Florence had been replaced by Cindy until the show started [[in Las Vegas) and Cindy walked out on stage. I think he was also angry that no one informed him and he was the group's manager [[supposedly).
No thanks must go .i've got a life bfn
I am a bit confused about Roger Pearson and Flo. Sounds to me more like he just knew her.
