    Motown at Penn State University

I didn't realize such big Motown acts played at my alma mater in Motown's "golden era":

Too bad this was a little before my student days there!

Great article. Thanks for sharing. It makes me wonder whether any of these great acts performed in Pittsburgh before coming to PSU or in Hershey, PA after being at PSU. It would have been in the closer range than going several states away. Those were the days.......

There was once a time when rock, pop & sOul acts played college dates. They do one -nighters, nightclubs , hotels and college dates. College tours are no longer a priority.

I found more, particularly about the Supremes shows at PSU's Rec Hall: http://blackhistory.psu.edu/timeline...ms_at_rec_hall There seems to be some conflicting info about the bowling aspect. Someone recalled that it was Diana that wanted to bowl which made the Supremes late to the show making the audience none too happy.
