Saw this when it aired on HBO, I think Smokey was on about 16 years ago.

Def Jam poetry reminded me of the 60's t.v. show SOUL! that aired on PBS-N.Y with Elis Hazlip when he had people like Nikki Giavonni and James Baldwin on.
