    Favorite Motown album covers.

Another topic revisited the other day i happened to stumble into a record store not far from my house and found a copy of Martha and the Vandellas live. while checking it out i thought why does motown sometimes use the same generic concept for some of their albums. But at the same moment I did think of the ones I really like and then thought to post it. so here we go:

Diana Ross and the Supremes: Love Child, Meet the Supremes [[2nd pressing) Together.
70's Supremes: Touch [[one of my fav.) Floy Joy
Temptations: Cloud Nine, Puzzle People, Sky's the Limit
Martha and the Vandellas: Black Magic [[even thought I think its a takeoff of the Supremes New ways , but at least no hot pink)
Four Tops: Still Waters, Changing Times
    Marvelettes: In Full Bloom
The Miracles: Renaissance, Do it Baby, City of Angels
Diana Ross: Baby its Me, Diana, Diana Ross [[1976 album)
Stevie Wonder : Music of the MInd, Talking Book, Intervisions, Song of the key of Life
Marvin Gaye, I want You, Lets Get it On

I know there are more but this is a start.

You are certainly right about "More Hits." Those were the days when Motown was still promoting The Supremes as three individual talents. This cover featured that aspect beautifully.

    Great memories from my youth:

    A picture of happiness:

A rare "album cover smile" that is so right for the Christmas season:

A very simple cover that says it all:

    Another stunningly simple cover:

I think a lot of people believe that this cover featured the original Marvelettes but is not true. By the time of this photo/album cover, Wanda Young had replaced Juanita Cowart. So this is actually the second grouping of the Marvelettes.

And officially Georgia was never a Marvelette as she was in the Casinyets, but her parents wouldn't sign the contract with Motown so she had to drop out of the group before they were officially signed and renamed by Motown. Fortunately Gladys found Wanda. But by having a major hand in writing Please Mr. Postman, Georgia's importance to the group and its history can't be denied.
