I just heard this song on the radio and I still love it-- the lyrics and Barbara's voice. Anyone else? Very few songs stand the test of time like this one. I wish we saw more of her.

I agree Luke, one of the greatest songs, even love the re-vamping by The Capitols.
Love both versions Barbara's heartfelt ballad and The Capitols injected soul of 1966.
!966 was a great year for Soul Music. I was lucky enough to see both Barbara & The Capitols on the same stage show along with Deon Jackson [[who took me to the show) and others.....

Saw her last year on her 70th birthday..... terrific..... http://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread...-Jose-Soul-Jam
Agree agree agree! Good call on the Capitols' cover too. And you've got the Dells on Barbara's original too, so that makes it doubly good,
I love the song, but I always hated the part where they boosted her vocal when she sings "It seems so good...".
An all-time classic. A special mention for the "Sh'bopp, sh'bopp, my baby" in the background.
Yep, that's the Dells.
Where was Soul jam?
Didn't Lorraine Ellison or someone like that do a version in the 70s that became a hit? Wrong name, I think her name was Yvonne Elliman.
Luke, Soul jam was at San Jose, California.

Wow, thanks for the links and covers, my favorite [[even over the original) is Four Tops and Supremes; Queen Latifah does a surprisingly good version, too.
An all-time favorite of mine too. I got to meet Ms Lewis at the San Jose show, she's still sounding so good! I think she'll be performing in Fresno, CA in early May.
Thanks for the links Mike, here's a few more nice covers

Thanks ssoacd! I really like The Quickest Way Out version. The composition itself is so good that it can take all kinds of treatments and still come through...
you were also at the San Jose show... you live in the Bay area?
CLASSIC SONG. She sounds good here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSa0EH0LiGk and I'm glad she is still around.
Viewing this post, takes me back a couple years,
We were on a show with M.s Lewis
She was doing her sound check
We[[ THE TYMES ) were doing background back stage
She heard us asked us would we supply the background when she sang it on the show.
We were next to go on after her. we said of course.
It went over very well, plus a lot of fun, the audience loved it.

Ceasar, what year was that?
Very cool Caesar. I hope Barbara has got her due with recognition of this song by songwriting awards.
ssoacd, I sent a private message to your inbox Mike
