    Rufus featuring Chaka Khan

What were your favorite Rufus single/track and album? Any live performance memories?

Well, the only time I saw Rufus & Chaka they were the opening act for Parliament/Funkadelic/Bootseys Rubber Band & they had just hit big with "Mothership Connection" & Bootsys first LP so I guess "Tell Me Something Good" had jus come out. Well, I jus remember the crowd wanting them to hurry & get off the stage. I rember at one point Chaka[[who at this time was not very charismatic) just sat down in the middle of the stage. When their short set was over Bootseys Rubber Band hit the stage & what a GREAT FUNKIN time the rest of the night was.Never saw Rufus or Chaka Khan again until meeting Chaka through my friend Cecil Womack who produced & wrote her best record imho "its My Party" in early 80's[[I think).

I like pretty much everything they did through 1979's "Masterjam" album.

I always liked Rufus more tha Chaka. Until 1978, when I saw them, Slave, and Narada Michael Walden in concert. What I used to consider to be pitchless screaming on record was translated into one of the best stage performances that I've seen. I have been a fan since then. I agree with soulster's assessment.

I only have singles and some tracks in VV.AA. compilations [[but, in total, around 30 tracks on ABC REcords distributed by Discos Mediterráneo here in Spain).

I remember how many times I played "Danve with Me" [[the B side of "Have A Good Tme") with bombastic bass at the end. Or some tracks included in VV.AA. "Soul Food" as "You Got The Love" or "Rufusized"

My favorite Rufus singles are "At Midnight" and "Please Pardon Me" and "Sharing The Love." My favorite album track is "Egyptian Song" and my favorite album is probably Ask Rufus which contains At Midnight, Everlasting Love, Hollywood, and Egyptian Song.

"Dance Wit Me" was the "A" side.

Here in Spain, "Have A Good Time" was the A side. Appears the title track in the cover sleeve with great size typography [["Que lo pases bien"). There's many cases on with US, UK, Holland or Spain,... the different distributors changed the order of "A" and "B" and also the "B" side is another song different from original US single.

    - TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD

Chaka looks just terrific these days. Sounds terrific, too.
