Pat St. John/Scott Regan/"Scott's on Swingers"

About 3 weeks ago, Dora and I were listening to Sirius/XM's "60's on 6", when up pops ex WKNR/CKLW jock Pat St. John on his first show.....1 - 5 pm est.....on the station. I pop him an e-mail saying it's good to hear a familiar voice out here in the Pacific NorthLeft, and that I now won't have to listen to my WKNR Dream Cruise CD's as often. I also asked him if he could play something Detroit-centric like "Scott's On Swingers", Tim Tam, The Reflections or the like.

He e-mailed me back a few days later saying he'd found his copy of "S.O.S", and would play it at an appointed time and date.

He did.......and then some. He came out of a Beatles song and began reading my e-mail on the air, shouting me out by both name and location. And then went a second step. Pat had called Scott Regan [[en? I can never remember which) in Florida, who in turn recorded a dedication to me [[again by name and location), and thanking me for being a long time member of The Burger Club. THEN he played the song.

OK, I'm absolutely floored. Hog heaven. And wondering......how many Sirius/XM listeners ended up looking at a map to figure out where Rock Island, Washington is?

This is great! I thought those guys had sailed off into the eternal radioland sunset. I had no idea that Pat St. John or Scott Regan were still around.........anywhere! Thank you Doug!

Scott is retired and living in Florida [[Winter Haven, I think he said). After he left WRIF in 1973, Pat had a long career in New York, 15 years at WPLJ, in '87 moving to WNEW-FM, staying for 11 years. He's been with Sirius/XM [[on various formats) since 1998, while doing various radio gigs in the New York area. Great voice, and a great talent.

Pat St. John has been all over Sirius/XM for a number of years. In fact, he's one of the main reasons I have subscribed to satellite radio. I have really enjoyed his shows on 50's on 5 and B.B.King's Bluesville. Unfortunately, both of those shows were dropped when they moved him to 60's on 6 last month. As a cost cutting move, Sirius/XM discontinued having disc jockeys on the 50s channel and the 90s channel last month. Besides Pat St. John, they also moved Dave Hoeffel, who was probably the second most popular 50s DJ after Pat, to the 60s channel.
