Mary, you'd best check out all the emergency exits, without delay.

'Go' could well be the very last word. LOLOL

Although I've often found myself laughing at some of the comments on the SDF threads, the first three posts on this particular thread are, for me, an absolute classic sequence.

Arr&bee full of enthusiasm - followed by Ralph, who very dryly is not - and Mary innocently but also totally bewildered.

I keep returning to it, and it cracks me up every time.....

    LOLOL Stephanie

I was reading just the other day of a man who can sing notes so low that they can't be picked up by the human ear, only audio equipment. Can you imagine.....

I seem to think whales do that, too?

Going to the other end of the scale, dogs do have an exceptional hearing ability, but dog whistles are pitched 'high'.

When we're young, we mere mortals can hear higher sounds than our elders [[I could hear the very lowest notes of a bat which would circulate our family home at dusk - but more so in one ear - it came across as a 'tink', 'tink, tink' sensation), but, as we age, the ability to do so steadily decreases.

You can call me Adam any time you like, Stephanie. It's a nice name. Though I'd prefer Catman, to both Batman and Dogman

    Ah, the glorious Jimmy Durante.

Just as long as Mrs Calabash knew where she was, and was happy , then everything was fine....

No, it was apparently the nickname he used for his first wife, Jeanne. He used the reference in the act after she died.

I always felt Jimmy Durante to be a loving person, a side he firmly hid behind his comic persona. He didn't poke fun at people. That appearance of him and and Mrs Miller could have been a disaster, but for his formidable skills.

I wished too that I could have met Phyllis Diller, as I believe she was a really kindly lady. Behind her zany persona, a shrewd judge of character, but very thoughtful and perceptive.

I would guess 'Fang' was largely, if not completely fictional. That way, Phyllis could act out an alter ego and say just what she liked, but in a way where she wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings, or even be accused of doing so - ?

And I would also have loved to quietly sit and hear Phyllis play the piano with those symphony orchestras at which, apparently, she excelled. We have a symphony orchestra here in my home town [[I think the orchestra may have an international reputation, but is certainly well known by fans of classical music here in UK), and can just imagine how she and it would have sounded together.

Over here, had they been UK citizens, Jimmy, Phyllis and their like would surely have been awarded at least the Order of the British Empire, and be considered national treasures, simply for their oddball humanity. If you've never heard of Ken Dodd, check him out....

I have rung the palace, and suggested one for you.

HM has just rung back [[she was having her breakfast) and says it really isn't strict protocol to award you one.

I've told her all about you and your global campaign for the realisation of hooch,. HM was impressed, and she says maybe a Disorder of The British Empire could perhaps be considered?

She's going to walk the corgis, and mull it over. It might depend on what Philip thinks.....

If you were to be awarded an Order of the British Empire [[OBE), you would visit Buckingham Palace, and be presented with a medal by HM The Queen, or possibly the Prince of Wales.

If there were to be a Disorder of the British Empire, I imagine the same procedure would be applicable.

After that, you should forget all about that dunce's cap.

In fact, even before that, you really should forget all about that dunce's cap
