Little things like rewards help us keep our sanity when we realize that we sacrificed everything else in order to position ourselves to win them. Especially if hooch is involved.

As far as receiving our hooch is concerned, it's probably better for us to wait expectantly than for it to arrive.

This is true. Once it arrives it'll soon be consumed, spurring a bout of depression that will in turn result in a need for more hooch. Best to anticipate its arrival than to actually receive it. It's like buying a lottery ticket and counting the minutes before the drawing.

    "...stole my heart away?,
Whooooo, makes me dream all day?...."

Similar eyes to cats. Amazes me how an owl can almost completely revolve its head....

I can neither confirm nor deny that I may have participated in the 'Crime of the Century' in my youth and only escaped by running for miles in a stream [[to throw the bloodhounds off my trail), fighting with the leader of a wolf pack to establish my place in the pecking order of the wilderness, stealing clothes from a rural clothesline, hiding in a barn for weeks, and subsisting on grubs and insects before assuming the identity of an amnesiac man to live off the spoils of my caper.

But you can infer that I did...

If 'popcorn' is British for 'bullish*t', then I agree with you.

You may, of course, be right - but I'd say 'popcorn' is British English for popcorn. You know, the stuff with the texture of those polystyrene pieces used when wrapping parcels, but which have then been heated, salted, sweetened and buttered.

Then, people sit in movie theatres/cinemas, in the dark, very often next to complete strangers, with containers of the stuff on their laps, wearing an impassive 'well, go on then, entertain me' expression on their face.

God actually gave more brains to the popcorn.

You know, now that I think of it, popcorn does very roughly equate to 'bullsh*t' after all.....

I'm not how it works over there, but our cinemas charge $8.00 for .75 cents worth of popcorn. I don't eat cinema fare as much on principle as because its nutritional value is roughly the same as arsenic.

I'm a fan of the movie-going experience. I like getting there early enough to get a good seat and watch the trailers on the first night. Thanks to the constant debate over why I 'have to go' early and do soon after release, I'm lucky to see one film per year. It's not argument do much as it is wanting to avoid the same debate, which I never seem to win.

If I feel a film is interesting, I just wait until it is available to rent.

TV series are viewed the same way, so I can see them at my pace.

I suppose I just follow the crowd, instead of being in the front row.....

I'm aware of the movies that I want to see before they're even in production. A large number of my internet browser favorite sites are film blogs.

I don't feel I have that degree of interest and endurance. I could be spending a great deal of time and attention in anticipation of a film, and then be disappointed. Happy to wait and consider the finished product.....

Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a critic who pans 90% of the movies I watch. The 10% that I like and the 1% that I love make the pursuit worth taking. I wind up waiting until most are on DVD, but the home experience pales to sitting in a packed theater and excited patrons who ask how that this will be the best film ever.

Only from the standpoint of wanting to see a good flick. What makes a movie good? Well, I'm afraid that the crowd and I have different opinions about that...

Apart from when I'm on this forum, I don't 'share' my music with others, or push it on them. It is very personal to me, and keeps me quietly true to myself. I guess that might be regarded as a tad snobbish.

I just wish musicians would make music that they like instead of what's going to land them on the radio. I'll take earnest and extremely personal over songs produced in a manner that appeals to as many formats as possible. I suppose that makes me a snob.

Then me, too. It seems to be the same with writing - novels, articles.

TV used to present different types of people, speaking differently, sometimes eccentrically, to illustrate the infinite variations in people.

The show becomes popular, and what started as an original unique portrayal [[but not necessarily to be emulated) then slips over to become part of standard communication. A 'dumbing down' process is at work.....
